Valve automation

Automax Pneumatic Actuators & Valve Controls

An automated valve must move reliably and report its position clearly. Pro-Quip helps you evaluate Automax pneumatic actuators, position indication and positioning controls around the valve’s operating requirements and the way your process is controlled.

Start with the valve and operating conditions

The actuator is one part of an automation assembly. Selection should account for the valve, available air supply, required operating sequence and the conditions at the installation.

  • Provide the valve manufacturer, model, size and required operating torque.
  • Confirm the available air pressure and desired operating speed.
  • Identify the required valve position if the air supply is lost.
  • Describe on/off or positioning duty and required position feedback.

Coordinate actuation, indication and positioning

Automax’s offering includes pneumatic actuators and products for limit switching and valve positioning. Review these components together so the selected arrangement addresses both valve movement and the control system’s information needs. For a replacement, include the existing mounting arrangement and any issues with calibration, access or maintenance.

ANSWERS FOR YOUR APPLICATION

Questions to help you move forward

Valve size is only a starting point. The valve’s torque requirements, service conditions, available air pressure, operating duty and required failure position are also needed to evaluate an actuator arrangement.
